Summer Class: Total Body Tabata

Join us for this 6 week, Tabata-inspired workout.

This is a high-intensity exercise class that keeps your interest high and your heart rate up. It’s not a class for beginners, but I’ve toned down the intensity so most people will get the full benefit of the class.

The 50 minute class starts with a vigorous warm up and moves into the Tabata intervals. We work at a high level of intensity and then wrap up with a relaxing cool down and stretch.

The goal: You’ll get a full body workout, burn fat, and feel great.

Join us on either Wednesdays at 6pm or Saturdays at 9am. If you want to attend one class per week for 6 weeks, the fee is $129. If you want to attend two sessions per week, the fee is $210.

What the heck is Tabata?

Tabata training is one of the most popular forms of high-intensity interval training (HIIT). It consists of multiple, short rounds of high-intensity exercises. Tabata training was born after Japanese scientist Izumi Tabata and his colleagues compared the results of moderate intensity training and HIIT. The study evaluated two groups of speed-skating athletes.

The scientists’ results concluded that the athletes who performed high-intensity training saw increases in aerobic and anaerobic system capacities, while the moderate-intensity group did not improve anaerobic performance. The Tabata training method was formed by modeling workouts after the second group.
