Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What exactly is personal training?

A: Personal training refers to one-on-one fitness/wellness programs that help you learn about yourself, challenge what you may think are your limitations, and achieve a sense of accomplishment and well being.

Q: What does a personal trainer do? How does this benefit me?

A: A personal trainer is a certified fitness professional who will guide and motivate you to identify your goals and help you achieve them. I listen to what you need, instruct, demonstrate, and guide you to the goal of a better and healthier lifestyle.

The benefit of personal training is a tailor-made program and individualized attention to your needs. I’ve been working in this field for 20 years years and have a passion for helping people find their strengths, develop new confidence, and find a new way of life. You can’t get that level of individual attention in a group class setting.

Q: How long is a session? How many times a week should I participate?

A: Each session lasts for 50 minutes. Depending on your goals and the amount of time you can devote to your program, I recommend 1-3 sessions per week.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: The cost of a personal training varies with the type of program you decide to do. Each personal (one-on-one) training session is $65.00 per hour.

Q: Do I have to be fit to work with a trainer?

A: Personal training is for everyone and anyone, regardless of ability or level of fitness. If you want to enhance your health, learn correct techniques, and acquire new habits for life, I will help you toward those goals with your dignity in mind and at your pace—whatever it is.

I work with people at all levels, from elite exercisers to those who have never exercised, post-physical therapy patients, people with back pain and muscle/joint stiffness, and those seeking the stress-reduction benefits of exercise.

Q: Will I lose weight? What about nutrition?

A: Your training will not end when you leave the studio; you will learn how to integrate what you learn into your life. You will have the opportunity to talk about better food choices and you will receive guidance to help you make those better choices. You need to balance exercise with good nutrition to achieve desired weight loss and a healthier lifestyle.

Q: How can I be assured of meeting my goals?

A: Personal training is a partnership between you and your trainer, and both parties make a commitment to get you to your goals. In addition to the sessions in the studio, I will send you weekly reminders of what we covered during the sessions, and some exercises you can follow at home during the week.
